Batman: The Animated Series drew from the 1940s Fleischer cartoons with a retro art deco look and an ambiance of the 1989 Tim Burton Batman film. Bruce Timm’s clean-lined characters inspired countless animated shows including the entire DC animated universe. This setup features an action-shot of Batman. It won an Emmy for writing and is consistently voted the best episode of the series.
